Nearly everyone masturbates, yet almost no one talks about it. Adult novelty company TENGA wanted to position self-pleasure as a healthy, common pursuit and create a month-long event for sex-positive people. I crafted messaging for TENGA’s “Masturbation May” campaign, which used visual euphemisms as the humorous centerpiece of a movement that extended to the UK, Germany and China—and resulted in a large increase in TENGA’s online sales.
